El resto alternan fases de sueño y vigilia durante todo el dÃa. Algunas investigaciones indican que el hombre primitivo también lo era, pero abandonó esa costumbre para adaptarse a ritmos de vida cada vez más rápidos. 😓
En los últimos cien años, además, hemos perdido, al menos, dos horas diarias de sueño. Por eso, la costumbre de la siesta podrÃa ayudarnos a recuperar el sueño perdido y asegurarnos un ritmo de vida más sano. Porque la siesta, como ha demostrado la ciencia, proporciona beneficios fÃsicos y mentales. ðŸ§
1⃣ Previene las cardiopatÃas. 💚
La siesta ayuda a disminuir en un 37% el estrés y el riesgo de padecer enfermedades cardiovasculares. La falta de sueño incrementa el cortisol, y un exceso de esta hormona aumenta la intolerancia a la glucosa y a la grasa, debilita el sistema muscular e inmunológico y disminuye los niveles de la hormona del crecimiento, lo que puede provocar diabetes y enfermedades cardiovasculares.
Cuando se duerme, se libera, sin embargo, la hormona del crecimiento, antÃdoto del cortisol, que estimula el sistema inmunológico, reduce el estrés y la ansiedad, ayuda a reparar los músculos y a perder peso.
2⃣ Facilita el aprendizaje. 🤓
Un estudio de la Universidad de Berkeley asegura que quienes duermen la siesta rinden más por las tardes y aumentan en un diez por ciento su capacidad de aprendizaje.
El sueño, dicen, permite afrontar nuevos conocimientos y fijar los ya adquiridos. SerÃa algo asà como resetear el cerebro.
Por esta razón, el descanso tras el almuerzo aumenta la productividad de los trabajadores y el rendimiento escolar de los niños.
3⃣ Mejora el estado de ánimo. 🙃
La serotonina es un neurotransmisor que regula el sueño y el estado de ánimo. Y dormir inunda nuestro cerebro de serotonina, lo que nos proporciona una sensación de satisfacción y bienestar.
